Bearing witness

I was at lunch with a buddy of mine eating sushi talking about life and really just catching up and as usual something about God came up and Family and he asked me a question, How do I witness to my wife and my kid? This conversation has stayed with me for a number of months now. And I really didn't do a great job in such a short time explaining what the word says. You see I have been pondering doing a blog about tough issues for a while now and that question really stayed on my heart and i thought i might answer it because I am sure many more are looking for this answer as well

Question: How do I witness to my wife and Kid ?

Well its not a hard question; but the the answers are the tough part. First we must define what bearing witness means : 1. to show by your existence that something is true ; 2. give testimony

Now here are a few small passage that may helps you

1 John 1:1-10
The Word of Life
1That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. 2The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4We write this to make our joy complete.
Walking in the Light
5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from allb sin.
8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
1 John 2:1-6
1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also fora the sins of the whole world.
3We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. 4The man who says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5But if anyone obeys his word, God’s love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: 6Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did!

The answer to my buddies question is this in simple layman's terms- We are the only Jesus some people will ever see. We must walk as Jesus walked, we must be as Jesus was, and we must love as Jesus loved . Once people see the fruit in us; then we can speak and tell them about the person of Jesus and what he came here to do. Jesus came to redeem us from the curse of the law which is sin and death and put us in right standing with God. Save us from eternal damnation

So how is that done ? It starts with stopping the excuses for our sinful life especially those of us who claim to be Christians. We start making RIGHT choices that glorify God and not ourselves. Open up your bible read it, do it. No more excuses or tolerance for sin in our own lives and Give grace to others when they fail so that we might receive grace when we need it.

More to come later .......
